Nara Thai, Worli, has launched an exciting new menu that takes diners beyond the usual Thai favourites and into the diverse world of Thailand’s regional curry traditions.
Thai cuisine has a wonderful
way of balancing contrasting flavours — spicy, sweet, sour, salty, bitter and
aromatic — and the new Curry Shop menu at Nara Thai brings that
philosophy beautifully to the table. Available from 7 August 2026, the
menu explores flavours from Southern and Northern Thailand through a selection
of curries, small plates, noodle bowls, desserts and cocktails.
What makes the menu particularly interesting is the thought that has
gone into preserving the character of each recipe. Nara Thai’s culinary teams
in Thailand and India have worked closely together, with the brand’s Executive
Chef travelling from Thailand to India to collaborate with the India culinary
team. Signature curry pastes and sauces continue to be sourced from Thailand,
while fresh herbs, aromatics and seasonal ingredients are sourced locally
wherever appropriate.
The result is a menu that
feels authentic without being intimidating — and, most importantly, one that
puts quality and flavour first.
Nara Thai has always placed considerable emphasis on serving well-executed Thai food, and that focus is evident here. The flavours are layered rather than simply fiery, the ingredients feel carefully chosen and each dish has its own personality. There is a sense that the kitchen is more interested in getting the balance right than in simply making dishes taste louder or spicier.
The restaurant itself sets a
lovely backdrop for the experience. The interiors combine eclectic details
with understated elegance, creating a space that feels polished yet
inviting. But while the setting certainly adds to the evening, it is the food
that takes centre stage.
What We Tried:
Lotus &
Betel Leaves
A lovely way to begin the
meal, these delicate bites are fragrant, fresh and wonderfully herbaceous. The
lotus and betel leaves bring a subtle earthiness and texture, while the
accompanying flavours add just enough sweetness, spice and acidity to keep things
interesting. Light but far from bland, this is the kind of starter that
immediately gets your palate ready for the more robust flavours to follow.

Fried
Pomfret with Chilli Lime Sauce
The fried pomfret arrives
beautifully crisp, with the fish retaining its delicate flavour underneath the
crunchy exterior. What really elevates it, however, is the chilli-lime sauce —
bright, zesty, spicy and packed with Thai character. The dips deserve special
mention too; they add different layers of flavour and make every bite feel
slightly different. It is a dish that manages to be indulgent and refreshing at
the same time.

Massaman
Lamb Curry with Smoked Coconut Rice
This was easily one of the
most comforting dishes of the meal. The Massaman curry is rich and aromatic,
with tender lamb soaking up the deeply spiced, creamy sauce. Rather than
overwhelming the meat, the curry lets the lamb remain the star while building
flavour gradually with every bite.
The smoked coconut rice
is an excellent pairing. Fragrant, creamy and subtly smoky, it adds another
dimension to the dish and works particularly well with the richness of the
curry. Together, the combination feels hearty, indulgent and incredibly
satisfying.

Dessert brings things to a
softer, more delicate close with this silky coconut and pandan pudding. The
pandan lends a beautiful fragrance, while the coconut adds creaminess without
making the dessert excessively heavy. It is gently sweet, smooth and comforting
— a particularly nice choice if you prefer your desserts elegant rather than
overly sugary.
The Cocktails
Siam Spice
For those who like their
cocktails with a little personality, Siam Spice is a fun choice. Tequila comes
together with passionfruit, Thai chilli and lime, creating a drink that moves
between fruity, tart, spicy and savoury notes. The chilli gives it a lingering
warmth without overpowering the cocktail.
Khao Niao
Bliss
A more intriguing and nuanced
cocktail, Khao Niao Bliss combines whisky with genmaicha, coconut, kaffir leaf
and mango. The result is surprisingly elegant, with the whisky providing depth
while the tropical and aromatic elements keep the drink refreshing. It is an
interesting expression of Thai-inspired flavours in cocktail form.
Our Verdict
Rating: 5/5
What we particularly enjoyed
about the new Curry Shop menu is that it doesn't rely solely on the familiar
idea of Thai food being about heat and strong flavours. Instead, it explores
the balance, aroma, texture and regional character that make Thai
cuisine so fascinating.
There is plenty of attention
to detail — from the Thai-sourced curry pastes to the fresh herbs and carefully
balanced sauces — but the biggest takeaway is simply that the food is really,
genuinely delicious.
