Bhavya Gandhi - You should be your only competition.

Motherhood brings about a lot of changes and your child becomes your first priority. So was also the case with our social media interviewee Bhavya Gandhi. After working with a stock broking firm for over a decade, she quit to become a full-time mom to her daughter Maanya. A couple of years later, she had another angel daughter to take care of.

What transpired in the interim was loads of experience of being a Super Mom and managing her kids and home with equal ease. With some free time on hand, she drifted into social media, offers parenting tips and more on her Instagram, YouTube channel and Facebook group page. She has collaborated with many brands and here she shares her experiences.

Can you tell us a little bit about how you got started and made a breakthrough into social media?

The journey started with my daughter's love for Art and craft. During the lockdown, it was very difficult to manage my 2.5 year olds energy and we started dabbling in arts and craft activity. That gave my husband an Idea for me to start my own YouTube channel and I used to share the same videos and pics on my Instagram. We started receiving a lot of love and slowly but steadily my followers started increasing and my journey as an Influencer started.

How important is authenticity to your review when it comes to influencer marketing? How do you maintain your authentic voice, viewpoints and recommendations on your social media while still partnering with brands?

Honestly, it’s all about what we think. As an Influencer, we have a lot to think before endorsing any brands as we are responsible in influencing a lot of people in many ways. Whenever I am approached by any brands for any collaboration, I try to know about the product as much as I can and also I never review any products unless I have personally used them. As an Influencer, we really need to maintain the balance of our endorsements, so we can influence people in the right way.

Have there been any brands or promotions you have refused since you didn’t believe in them?

Yes, I surely have though it’s unfair of me to name them. But yes sometimes the brands expect so much from Influencers and it’s like our opinion doesn't really matter to them. So if I do any endorsement, I surely communicate with them and only when both of us are on the same page we take the collaboration ahead.

How do you plan the brand promotion in case of collaborations? What is the modus operandi you follow?

The only modus operandi I follow is a genuine and honest feedback as a customer. Whenever I endorse a particular brand, I try to think from a consumer point of view. Like what is it that as a consumer will I want from the product. How cost effective is it? Will it be useful in long term? The bottom line is to have a positive and genuine approach.
